Utah’s largest & oldest sod farmAbout Us
Our story A legacy of innovation & hard work
BioGrass® Sod Farms, Inc. was founded in 1979 by T.H. Bell, a dedicated local educator and former U.S. Secretary of Education. With four sons approaching college and LDS service missions, Bell sought a family business that could support these expenses while teaching his sons the value of hard work. Inspired by a friend’s sod farm and his own farming upbringing in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, Bell leased portions of a 100-acre farm in Eagle Mountain, Utah, to start BioGrass.
Soon after, Bell was appointed U.S. Secretary of Education by President Ronald Reagan, leaving the new business in the capable hands of his wife, Betty, and their sons—Mark, Glenn, Warren, and Peter.
